Water

water1resize.jpgLet’s talk water. We all know water is essential for our survival. It is estimated that a human can only survive 3-5 days without water. I could list all the awful things that occur during extreme dehydration, but I know ‘yall can Google “death by dehydration.” Let me say two words – cracked tongue. That was enough for me to want to gather gallons of water. So let’s wet our whistles and talk about water.

I would say that water is the most important part of our food storage. Without it we would be very thirsty. It is recommended to store 14 gallons/ person for a two week supply. This would be enough to drink, cook with, and use for some basic hygiene. So, on the count of three you are going to compute how much water your family should store. Ready? One….two….three….COMPUTE! (Hint: # of people in your family x 14 gallons.) Also keep in mind your animals if you care about them. However, I only deal with humans and will leave it up to you to figure out your pet’s needs.

So please make sure you have an adequate water supply. I don’t want to have to share mine.
