Don’t Forget to Store Salt!
Tonight was ABC soup night, but Emily was quick to correct us that technically it is ABC and 123 soup. It was the first time I made this from the mix I ordered in a #10 can. I simmered it in 2 quarts of water seasoned with a couple tablespoons of my #10 can of chicken bouillon. I failed to realize that the chicken bouillon lacked salt so the soup was a bit bland but nothing that couldn’t be fixed with several shakes of the salt shaker. I also added sliced baby carrots that had been sitting in my fridge for a couple of months. Couldn’t tell they were old once they were cooked in the soup. Tomorrow we will eat leftovers. I was thinking as I placed my bowl in the dishwasher that the soup would have been really delicious in a bread bowl. That’s a thought to excecute next time. It’s not so bad eating food storage food when you have some Chocolate Trinity ice cream awaiting you in the freezer.
Breakfast: cereal
Lunch: pasta with spray butter and parmesean cheese
Moral of the story: Don’t forget to store salt. It can make any meal taste better. It’s inexpensive, easy to store and can keep indefinitely. I keep mine in my linen closet. How do you store yours?
